Sustainability
Sustainability is at the heart of Mina Essence and we are very mindful to choose sustainable materials for the creation of each piece. As nature & its abundance are one of our core inspirations we do our best to create in harmony with nature and are always striving to improve our practices.
We prioritize creating sustainable fashion; from material choice and production to packaging & labeling.
We are proud to use 100% locally sourced materials from Turkey & Indonesia for all of our collections.
Our fabrics come from towns and villages around Turkey such as ‘şile bezi’. Sile Fabric is a hand loomed muslin cotton fabric that has been worn by many people since ancient times. It takes its name from the Sile village of Istanbul where it was first made.
Our linen is locally made in the Marmara region of Turkey. The Marmara region of Turkey is renowned for its landscapes, from the endless coastline to Mount Uludag. Istanbul also stands at the core of the Marmara region, rich in history and culture.
Our Cotton fabrics are made locally from the Aegean region of Turkey. The Aegean region of Turkey borders the Marmara region and has over 5,000 years of traditions, and culture. The region is famous for its textiles and weaving.
Some of our linen & viscose fabrics are made locally in Bali, Indonesia - for pieces such as Anna Pants set, and Nova Crop Top.
The material used in our handmade crochet detailing and pieces is also purely locally sourced although they do not come from one single region.
So far all pieces have been made in small quantities in a local studio dedicated to creating pieces for Mina Essence in Istanbul, and as well in Bali.
